A wedding at Corte San Mattia: where love meets the hills of Verona

Bijgewerkt op: 12 aug 2025

On June 20 and 21, 2025, I’ll have the honor of photographing the wedding of Jasmijn and Niels at one of the most breathtaking venues Italy has to offer: Corte San Mattia, a romantic agriturismo nestled in the hills just above Verona. (Scroll down for more photos.)

This is not just a wedding. It’s a story rooted in connection, Italian charm, and meaningful moments... all set against the dreamy backdrop of olive trees, vineyards and sweeping views of the city where Romeo and Juliet once lived, according to Shakespeare.

And the best part? The couple had already visited Corte San Mattia for a wine tasting just a week before getting engaged, without knowing they’d one day say "I do" here. That full-circle feeling? Pure magic.

Why Corte San Mattia is so special

From the very first visit, it’s easy to fall in love with this place. The view over Verona is absolutely unforgettable, especially at sunset. The vineyard-lined hills create a peaceful, intimate atmosphere. Whether you're walking under ancient olive trees, sipping local wine, or eating fresh pizza straight from the wood-fired oven — Corte San Mattia offers everything you could dream of for an Italian destination wedding.

The wedding weekend of Jasmijn & Niels

Friday began with a welcome walk around the estate — camera in hand, golden light falling over the vines, laughter echoing from the pool. At 5PM, we kicked things off with a casual pizza party and drinks by the pool, where guests arrived one by one, sharing toasts and excitement for the big day ahead.

Saturday was the main event. Jasmijn’s dress swayed from a tree branch, Niels suited up in a peaceful spot nearby, and their first look unfolded at the ceremony space with a panoramic view of Verona. Guests cooled off with sun hats and parasols as their labradoodle Ted joyfully joined them after they exchanged vows — carrying the rings, of course.

We explored the estate for portraits: among the vineyards, under cypress trees and near an old overgrown Fiat that’s practically a piece of living art

.

A champagne tower, heartfelt speeches and a candlelit dinner at long tables followed. The food? Pure Italian abundance: handmade pasta, grilled vegetables, cured meats and wine made right on the property.

To end the night, a sparkling tunnel of lights led to the wedding cake and the dance floor. And then, finally, to the comfort of my room right there on the estate, where I backed up thousands of images from the day.

Sunday ended with a laid-back breakfast and warm goodbyes... guests either heading home or off to continue their Italian adventure with their hearts full of beautiful new memories.

A note to Corte San Mattia

As a destination wedding photographer, I visit many places — but few capture the heart and senses quite like Corte San Mattia. It’s not just the view. It’s the feeling. The kindness. The details. The light. The simplicity of joy in a place where time seems to slow down.

Thank you for creating a space where love feels at home, and where stories like this can unfold so beautifully.

Warmly,

Destination Wedding Photographer from the Netherlands
